Meet the Team - Family

Advocate Rose Colley – Partner (Managing) – Family

Rose was born in England and completed her first degree in political science at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth.

Rose was admitted by the Law Society of England & Wales as a Solicitor in 1980. She then spent a number of years as a lecturer for the Inner London Education Authority before entering into private practice in 1986, specialising in family law. Rose completed her MBA at the Nottingham Law School in 1996.

Rose moved to Jersey in 1997 and was sworn in as an Advocate of the Royal Court of Jersey in 2000. She joined Viberts as Practice Director in 2000 and later became the Managing Partner. Rose now deals with around two out of every three Jersey family law cases and is a qualified practitioner in collaborative law.

Rose was a Councillor for the London Borough of Southwark from 1984 to 1997 and stood for Parliament at the 1992 General Election. In Jersey she is the former acting Bâtônnier, chairs the sub-committee of the Law Society which drew up the new legal aid guidelines in 2006 and sat for six years on the committee of the Institute of Directors Jersey Branch. She currently serves on the States of Jersey Appointments Commission, is legal adviser to St John Ambulance in Jersey and sits on the Citizens Advice Bureau Management committee

Zoë Blomfield  – Partner  – Family

Zoë was born and educated in Jersey.  After studying business and finance she then completed a law degree at London University.

After gaining ten years of varied practice experience in Jersey, Zoë was sworn in as an Ecrivain of the Royal Court (Jersey Solicitor) in 2003. For several years she has specialised in family law and she is also qualified to practice collaborative law. Zoë was instrumental in introducing this practice in Jersey and is a member of the UK body Resolution, which advocates a constructive, non confrontational approach to family law matters.

Zoë was made a Partner of Viberts in 2006.

Zoë was sworn in as an Advocate in November 2007, the reason she transferred over to become an advocate is because of the increasing number of cases which are being referred upwards to the Royal Court from the Family Division and this will now allow her to represent her clients throughout the process.

Zoe is the Chairman of the Social Security Medical Appeal Tribunal.
