Viberts helps ten-year-old William raise money for charity with ‘Magic Reindeer Food’

Published: 3 February 2021

The Jersey branch of the Guide Dogs for the Blind. has received £836 through William Highfield’s hard work selling his home-made ‘Magic Reindeer Food’ this Christmas. Half of the money raised was funded by Viberts matching the amount William collected himself.

William raised £418 for the charity, which at 50p a bag equates to 836 bags of Reindeer Food. He normally sells his magic reindeer food through local shops and direct to the public, however, this year with the covid-19 restrictions in place he raised most of the money from donations and by setting up an ‘honesty box’ outside his house.

Five years ago, William Highfield, who is in year five at Springfield School, came up with the original idea to create and sell Magic Reindeer Food to raise money for those who are less fortunate than him. In those five years he has raised an amazing £4,489 for a variety of Jersey based charities.

In the lead up to Christmas he spent his time after school and at weekends making up the compostable bags of food which contain a mixture of oats, cupcake sprinkles (and of course magic!) – ensuring that Santa’s reindeers didn’t go hungry on their busiest night of the year.

Managing Partner, Zoe Blomfield commented: “Viberts are delighted to support William’s efforts by matching the amount he raised over the Christmas period for the Jersey branch of the Guide Dogs for the Blind. She went on to say, “his ongoing commitment and success in raising much needed funding for local charities is an inspiration to us all”.
