Welcome to Viberts

The firm now known as Viberts was founded in the 1930s. We focus on meeting the needs of Jersey people and businesses. We build long term relationships by combining services tailored to the needs of our clients, with practical advice at an economic price.

The partners of Viberts strongly believe that part of their role is to shape local law. Advocate David Le Quesne chairs the Jersey Employment Tribunal and sat on the Clothier panel; Advocate Charles Thacker was formally the Bâtonnier and is now the President of the Law Society of Jersey and Chairman of the Social Security Appeals Tribunal; Advocate Zoë Blomfield was instrumental in introducing collaborative family law into Jersey and is the Chairman of the Social Security Medical Appeal Tribunal; Advocate James Lawrence is a regular media commentator; Advocate Christopher Scholefield lectures to members of the financial services industry on commercial law and Advocate Rose Colley is involved with two out of every three family law cases in the island, serves on the States of Jersey Appointments Commission, chaired a sub-committee of the Law Society which drew up the new legal aid rules in 2006 and served for six years on the committee of the Institute of Directors Jersey Branch.

The firm’s long-term future is assured by the presence of many young lawyers who represent our future, and many of whom will themselves become partners in the years to come.

People matter to Viberts. Our clients come first, whether they are affluent professionals or people needing legal aid. They may be of UK, French, Portuguese or Polish families, because we have a number of bilingual staff. We even offer appointments after hours and on Saturdays.

Whoever our clients are, the service is the same – excellent.
