Viberts is a flourishing and ambitious Jersey law firm.
We are seeking an exceptional Practice Director to support the Managing Partner in devising strategic plans for the growth of the firm, guiding decision making and ensuring the smooth running of its day‑to‑day financial and operational activities.
You will shape strategy, lead, influence and drive transformational change. You will support the firm’s ongoing strategic objectives and provide clear and commercial advice to the partnership.
Financial leadership
- Leading the firm’s budgeting, forecasting and strategic financial planning.
- Devising and monitoring robust financial controls and compliance and risk management regimes compatible with our position in a regulated environment.
- Working closely with the Managing Partner, the partners, heads of department and fee earners to maintain profitability, analyse and improve our costs and pricing practices and deliver an optimum client experience.
- Leading and developing a high-performing and busy finance and risk and compliance team.
- Driving the use of the most efficient systems, processes and reporting to give the partnership clear and prompt insights into the evolution of its performance.
Strategic leadership and organisational change
- Defining the firm’s strategic objectives and leading the transformative steps needed to attain them.
- Collaborating with Partners and senior team members to identify clear business cases for change and devising metrics to demonstrate their effectiveness.
- Prioritising and leading projects selected for implementation, ensuring their delivery on time and within budget.
- Keeping Partners fully informed of the delivery of such projects and devising solutions to challenges encountered.
- Driving the continuous enhancement of systems, practices, policies and knowledge sharing across the practice.
- Providing well-reasoned challenges to your colleagues in the devising of departmental plans.
- Working closely with the Head of Risk and Compliance to ensure that we are compliant with regulatory requirements, our own risk appetite and policies and procedures.

Qualifications
- Professional qualification in finance, business/project management or an MBA.
- A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Experience
- At least ten years' experience in a senior financial and operational management role.
- Strong track record of successful working with highly qualified and intellectually curious colleagues on senior leadership teams.
- Demonstrated success analysing the need for, devising and then delivering organisational change.
Skills and competencies
- Ability to balance broad strategic vision with a focus on operational detail.
- Strong governance and project management experience.
- Excellent numeracy, literacy, communication and analytical skills.
- Ability to identify the need for, devise and deliver financial and organisational strategies.
- Absolute integrity and discretion combined with sound judgement.
- Emotional intelligence combining an understanding of the impact of change upon your colleagues with the ability to roll up your sleeves and lead by example when appropriate.
