Viberts is pleased to announce the promotion of five senior lawyers across its business. The firm has promoted Karla Summers-Shaw to Partner, and Ashley Bidmead, Irene Blöch, Rebecca De Freitas and Kiera Jones to Senior Associate, effective 1 February 2026.

New Partner

Karla Summers-Shaw
Karla joins the partnership as an Advocate in the Private Client department, where she specialises in complex estate planning, probate and capacity matters. She is part of one of Jersey’s largest and most respected private client teams, renowned for providing sensitive and effective legal support. Karla’s depth of experience in Jersey private client law and her approachable manner have made her a trusted advisor to clients and referrers alike.

Senior Associate promotions

Ashley Bidmead
Ashley is an English Solicitor in the private client team and a longstanding member of the firm, with over 20 years’ service. He has extensive experience in all aspects of private client work, with particular expertise in capacity law and matters affecting elderly clients.

Irene Blöch
Irene is an English Solicitor in the Corporate team, specialising in business acquisitions and sales, banking and finance. Her work includes advising on and drafting M&A documentation, handling finance and security arrangements, and guiding clients through company migrations and corporate law processes.

Rebecca De Freitas
Rebecca is an Advocate in the Corporate team and a specialist in employment law. She provides both contentious and non-contentious employment advice, representing clients in Tribunal proceedings involving issues such as constructive dismissal, unfair dismissal and discrimination, and advising on redundancy, contracts and internal employment processes.

Kiera Jones
Kiera is an English Solicitor in the Private Client team, bringing many years of experience to her role supporting local clients and families. She focuses on delegation and local probate matters, delivering clear, practical advice during complex and sensitive life events.
